We're Getting Married!!!

When I was thirteen, my middle school best friend introduced me to a boy. She said "This is Ricky, he's really funny. This is Jany, she's my best friend. I think you guys should date". She then walked away from the both of us without another word. Me being me, I smiled at him and scurried off nervously without even a 'nice to meet you'. If you would have told me then that 10 years later that same boy would be asking me to spend the rest of life with him, I never would have believed you. But here we are, engaged. I AM MARRYING THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, GUYS. And though I'm writing this three months later, (Typical I KNOW), I am still on cloud nine. This moment was everything I ever dreamed it would be.

We were in Kauai for Ricky's family vacation, and had spent our first day horseback riding, and eating shaved ice. I had asked Samantha to do a shoot of us months before, so I knew that at some point we'd be taking pictures. I didn't, however, expect to take pictures after I had been sweating all day & the humidity had gotten the best of my hair. But they insisted on getting it over with (You little sneaks). I'm not sure when Ricky decided to turn this into our proposal, but it could not have taken place at a more perfect time or location. I mean how do you beat these views. Ricky's little sister fixed my face (god bless her), his cousin did my hair (also an angel), and Ricky steamed my dress for me. Now that I'm typing this, I don't understand how I had no suspicions. THEY WERE BEING SO OBVIOUS. Still, stupid me did not have a clue. Not even when he was excited about the pictures. He hates photo shoots almost as much as he hates Disneyland. When we were finally ready to leave, Ricky's oldest brother, and little sister tagged along. Eddie claiming he wanted to go so he could film the canyon with his drone, and Daniella was scouting a location for her senior pictures. Valid reasons; still not a clue what was really going on. We stopped all around Waimea; I wish you could have seen the smile on Ricky's face. He looked like a kid walking into the Lego store for the first time. Genuine, pure happiness (STILL COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY HE WAS SO HAPPY). This place took my breath away. The beauty that exists in this world is surreal. After stopping in several locations for Samantha to shoot us, she set us up for one final pose. She told us each to stand apart from one another and face opposite directions. When she said the word we were to turn around and start walking toward one another staring directly into each others eyes. You guessed it, I still suspected nothing. We turned and walked toward each other and even when he got close to me I still did not see the ring box in his hand. He got down on one knee, (I actually thought he was playing a joke on me), BUT THEN. There it was, an actual gorgeous, take your breath away, ring of my dreams, ring. With the biggest smile on his face, he said "I love you more than anything in this world, Jany. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I've never been more sure of anything in my life. Will you marry me?" Still in shock I started to sob, I couldn't believe this was actually FINALLY happening. I of course said yes, cried some more, smiled so much my mouth hurt, and couldn't let him go.

You are my dream come true, Ricky. I love you and this life you've built for the both of us. I cannot wait to be your wife!!!

Also, Sam, D, and Eddie, (if you someday read this) thank you for being there for this. Thank you for making it so special, and capturing it all. You guys mean the world to me.
